Melita was born on 3rd October 1835 in Windsor, her father was Major John Ledsam who had been Quartermaster of the Royal Fusiliers and who was a Military Knight of Windsor.

Melita married Charles Harley Savory on 11 July 1855 at St Peter’s Church, Burnham.

Melita and Charles had six children, Arthur Ledsam, Herbert Whitmore, Rosalie Julia, Ernest Jeffrey Charles, Sybil Mary and Julius.

Melita had one brother and four sisters. One of the sisters was Maria, who was a very competent artist. All the sketches of individual on this site were done by her. She was also a water colourist and much of her work us still in the family.

Melita died at 30 Braham Gardens in London on the 15 July 1911 at the age of 75 and is buried in Kensall Green Cemetery.
