Julius Savory was the 5th of 6th children of Charles and Melita Savory and was born, at 1 Lancaster Gate, on 19th December 1865. He was baptised on 24th April 1866 at Christ Church, Lancaster Gate.
Julius was a man of great charm whose principal interests seem to have been horses, wine and women, in that order. Perhaps not surprisingly he married a bar-maid (Emily). At one stage in life he spent two years in Wyoming, USA. Having saved up the money for his passage back to the UK he got as far as New York where most of his money disappeared. He spent the next two years driving a hearse in that city.
He died in Bath in 1937, described as a retired livery stable proprietor. The cause of death was “cirrhosis of the liver alcoholic”. He had as one living at that time in Bath – B.A. Savory who died in 1984.
