John Field Savory was the eldest child of Tom Hames and Elizabeth Savory born on 7th February 1855. He died in East London in 1895.
For a time John Field worked at Savory & Moore. In the 1880s he was in charge of Baby Food production at ta factory the firm then owned in Mile End.
John married Agnes Laura Ward and they had three children:
Gordon Hames Savory
Born on 9th August 1884.
Married Alice Mary Moore Jagg on 25th May 1911 at All Saints, Hove, Sussex. Alice’s father was also a chemist.
Worked as a bank clerk.
Died 10th January 1966 in Newton Abbott, Devon.
Gordon and Alice had a daughter Veronica Mary born 1st February 1914, baptised 21st February at St Barnabas, Hove and she died in 1918.
Gordon married Emily Mary Margaret Kenny (born 9th January 1893) in India, where they lived for many years. They returned to the UK and lived in Newton Abbott. Emily died on 6th February 1966, a few weeks after Gordon. They did not have any children.
Ronald Sterndale Savory
Born in Fulham on 23rd September 1886.
Baptised St Oswald’s, Fulham on 23rd October 1886.
He attended Christ Church Newgate in London.
He was an engineer in Tynemouth Electricity Works during World War I.
He married Amy Ritchie in April 1920 in Watford. They had no children.
Ronald then married Kathleen Dunn in 1933 and they had a daughter Patricia M. Savory, born 8th July 1932, in South Shields.
Ronald’s mother, Agnes, does not seem to have approved of his second wife, for in her Will she stated “I do not wish anything that has belonged to me to pass to my son Ronald’s step-children.”
