Elizabeth Durlacher was born in 1828 and married Thomas ‘Tom’ Hames Savory on 2nd may 1854 at St James’s Piccadilly.
Elizabeth was the daughter of Lewis Durclacher of 15 Old Burlington Street. Lewis was a chiropodist who was appointed as surgeon-chiropodist to the royal household in 1823 and served under George IV, William IV and Queen Victoria.
Tom and Elizabeth had five children, the last Maude who was born on 18th August 1862, four months after her father’s death on 22nd March 1862.
Tom and Elizabeth had lived, while he was alive, at 143 New Bond Street. After his death Elizabeth (described by Reginald Savory as “my aunt Lizzie, a grand old lady”) lived at 26 Harewood Square (now Marylebone Station). The 1871 census lists her as having four servants in her household.
Elizabeth died on 28th June 1905 at 40 Porchester Square, London. She is buried in the Savory Catacomb in Kensal Green Cemetery. The last member of the family to be so.
