Henry Charles was the second child of Tom Hames and Elizabeth Savory, born on 1st October 1856 in London.
Henry married Janet Mary Henderson at St Mary’s Abbotts and they seemed to have settled in Edinburgh. Henry died on 29 February 1916 in Edinburgh. Janet died in Gosport on 10th February 1946.
For a time (1886-1893) he was a captain in the 3rd (Militia) Battalion The Seaforth Highlanders, which had been the regiment of his uncle Henry Browne Savory.
They had two children:
Gladys – born 25th September 1889, married Admiral Sir Cecil Reyne in October 1917 in Kensington. They had four children, Rosemary, Sally, Penelope Anne (Penny) and Michael.
Colin – born 1887. He married Helen Beatrice and they had a daughter Gillian Angela, known as Ann who was born in July 1931. When Gillian was three months old they moved to Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) where Colin was a tea planter. After an operation, Colin died in Ceylon on 3rd September 1939.
